UACES is a vibrant global organisation for academics, students and practitioners interested in all aspects of Europe and the European Union. Amongst its extensive activities, UACES holds and supports a wide range of conferences and events, co-publishes various journals and book series, supports research networks as well as individual fieldwork, and offers special help to PhD students and early-career researchers. Having visited UACES events, having published in some of its journals and book series, and having benefited from different grants and the extensive network of the organisation, I am very happy to be able to contribute even more actively in shaping the future of UACES in the coming three years. For the period 2019-2022, I have been elected member of the UACES Executive Committee. The organisation’s 49th Annual Conference, which is currently taking place in Lisbon, is a wonderful kick-off for this new task.
