The global data collection project ‘Varieties of Democracy’ (V-Dem) has published a huge new dataset with data on the development of democracy in more than 200 countries worldwide, covering for the first time a period of over 200 years (1789-2017). This is also the first dataset to which I contributed as country coordinator on Luxembourg, managing and providing information on the Grand Duchy’s democratic development since ca. 1900.
The dataset is free and available for download in different formats (SPSS, STATA, STATA-IC, CSV and EXCEL), and can be used by scholars and indeed anyone with an interest in the development of democracies. More information on the dataset can be found here; the dataset itself can be downloaded here.
